Contemporary neotropical defaunation and forest structure, function, and diversity - a sequel to John Terborgh

DIRZO, R.; MIRANDA, A. 1990. Contemporary neotropical defaunation and forest structure, function, and diversity - a sequel to John Terborgh. Conservation Biology 4(4):444-447.

Abstract. From a series of long-term studies at the Los Tuxtlas Tropical Research Station, Mexico, it is argued that a number of features of this forest's understorey support Terborgh's contention [see Conservation Biology (1988) 2 402-403] that big animals of the tropical forest play an important though largely unappreciated role in the diversity and structure of these natural ecosystems.
